Come to You

September 16, 2012

I’ve always believed that the blessing of God follows those who are near to His heart – not because the obedient are necessarily rewarded for their piety but, because I believe God always is faithful to Himself and delights in bringing His promises to fruition in the lives of those who trust Him. This song was composed while thinking about the beautiful measure of favor God has poured over my life and the lives of so many I hold dear. I know it’s nothing I have deserved; I couldn’t even dream of measuring up to its mercy. Yet, I’ve trusted Him, even while in my greatest times of weakness, and He has faithfully fulfilled His precious promises in and through my life. This song is a prayer that I will continue to faithfully draw near to Him, trusting that He will nourish my soul with His tender care. …and it is an acknowledgement that I am nothing without His presence. Life is meaningless unless we can follow that one, beautiful calling: to come to Him.

Come to You

May Your love rain around us. May Your peace rest upon us.
May Your holiness enfold us, as we come to You.

May Your Spirit embrace us. May Your face shine to grace us.
May Your righteousness come raise us, as we come to You.

And this world will not hold us back,
For we look to only You,
And this life’s one purpose is that
We may come to You.

May Your favor fall on us. May Your mercy come call us.
May Your loveliness just awe us, as we come to You.

And this world will not hold us back,
For we look to only You,
And this life’s one purpose is that
We may come to You.
