Chaney’s love for music took root in Uvalde, Texas, when his parents enrolled him in violin lessons in 1984. At only 4 years old, he still remembers the excitement of learning a song and the joy it brought to those for whom he performed. Although the violin was fun and challenging, he soon took an interest in the guitar and has not put it down since. Along the way, he studied various styles of guitar including classical, bluegrass, western swing, fingerstyle, and praise and worship. He has played professionally in the greater San Antonio area for more than 10 years.
Chaney graduated from Texas State University with a bachelor’s in music with an emphasis in classical guitar performance. While in college, he participated in numerous guitar quartets and jazz combos. He played violin with the Texas State Orchestra and has performed twice at Austin’s Guitars Galore Festival.
